Bill Colgate is an independent singer/songwriter from Toronto. In 2002 Bill won 2nd Grand Prize Overall in the USA Songwriting Competition for his song "Let It Be There" from his debut CD "when dinosaurs ruled the earth". This is the highest ranking ever by a Canadian in the history of the contest, including such past winning notables as Shirley Eikhard and James Keelaghan. Bill has just released his sophomore CD "waiting for simon" to critical praise. Greg Quill of The Toronto Star has called Bill "an important and committed new talent on the Canadian independent music scene." Bill has also been a professional actor for over 20 years appearing on stage, screen and television opposite such notables as Tommy Lee Jones, Diane Keaton, Matt Dillon, Anthony Edwards, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kiefer Sutherland, Martha Henry, and David Fox. He has shared the concert stage at various times with Amos Garrett, Ron Sexsmith, Ken Whitely, Bobby Wiseman, Kevin Hearn, Sarah Slean, Tamara Williamson, Vezi, Mia Sheard and Steve Fox.In May of 2003 Bill showcased in Nashville at the world famous Bluebird CaféBill's song "The Other Woman" was used in the film Landslide starring Anthony Edwards and Joanna Cassidy and was also recorded by Liz Tansey for her debut CD "What I Want".
