David Gillis must be totally insane. All he cares about is love and music. Particularly the love part. Particularly the love of music part. He actually believes by being a consummate music maker and story teller he can make an impact on this world in a good and positive way and that honing his craft to perfection is really a means to a greater good. He was pleased to be the announced the winner of the Collen Peterson Songwrinting Award by the Ontario Council of the Arts for his tune, "A Mouse's Crumb".He was pleased when the people that run the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society in Nashville invited him to perform a feature show and a guitar workshop. He was pleased some more when his instrumental tune "The Theme of Spiderman - Chase Medely" reached number 12 on the Amazon.com download charts. Was he pleased even more that the editor of Fingerstyle Guitar magazine featured his instrumental Celtic tune "She's So Fey" in their August-July 2003 edition? He was pleased even more than the other times it was repeated about "being pleased" to attend the Gamble Rogers Festival in St. Augustine Florida and win 1st place in their Fingerstyle guitar competition. Didn't Don Ross describe David Gillis as a "Monster Guitarist"? He thinks it's way cool when he gets positive reviews from musicians, journalists and writers. Is he in need of attention or does he really believe everyone in this whole messed up world is a love starved child with a massive vacuum for acceptance? Some of that crap is hidden in his songwriting. If you share an affinity towards this kind of stuff and are messed up like David Gillis, maybe you'll want to learn what the buzz is about. Maybe there is no buzz, maybe he's just making that up too? This Bio was written by me, David Gillis. But you probably already knew that. I can't afford fake hype from a real writer like the kind you get from a record company.
