Hello, and welcome to my page. I am an amateur contemporary folk songwriter from Perth, Ontario, and am now living in Toronto. Most of my work is based in history, particularly Canadian and/or women’s history, although I also enjoy writing novelty songs such as Anne of Three Minutes. Sometimes I compose my own tunes and sometimes I make use of traditional (public domain) melodies, as is common practice in folk music. I sing and play acoustic guitar and fiddle.
I am an active member of the Toronto Song Circle, and occasionally play out at other song circles and open mikes around Toronto. I am not performing professionally right now, but have had the opportunity to perform at Black Creek Pioneer Village (Celtic and Christmas festivals) and at a Songwriters Unite show; I have also played in recent years at many nursing homes around Toronto and on many street corners around North America.
Anne of Three Minutes is my first venture into the studio; my intention is to record a full length CD for general release in 2009 or 2010.
When not writing, playing, or listening to music, I work as a registered nurse in neonatal intensive care.
Lyrics for most of my songs can be found at www.freewebs.com/marionparsonssongbook. My email is email@example.com.
